Oglethorpe County Senior Center offers transportation for seniors who are not able to drive or express a need that they are hungry. This transportation includes to and from the center, to medical appointments, government services, shopping trips, and to the grocery store. In 2017, the center traveled 62,606 miles, provided 5,179 individual trips, and spent 2,455 hours on the road.

 

The center is able to pick up individuals who cannot drive from their homes and return the in the afternoon. Pick up is usually around 9 am and drop off is usually around 2 pm.

 

Medical Appointments

We encourage individuals to schedule their doctor appointments around 9:45 am to 12 pm in order to maximize pick up and drop off.

 

Shopping Trips

The senior center does local shopping trips on Tuesdays typically around 1 pm. This trip includes Dollar General, bank, Post Office, and Bells. Additionally, the center does two big shopping trips twice a month to out of county shops, restaurants, and venues.

Government Services

The senior center will drive individuals to some government entities. This would include, but not limited to Georgia Department of Driver Services, Passport Office, Tax Office, and so forth.
